Categorical Exclusion Errors

The data shows percent of error-free Categorical Exclusion documents. Pavement Condition


Statewide Pavement Condition

This data shows the percent of center line miles rated in good, fair & poor condition and is being calculated using the national FHWA scale for pavement roughness based on the reported 0.1 mile IRI data collected on all State roads (5,865 miles).
It is sourced from "Historical Pavement Condition" data for all UDOT roads, provided by Frank Pisani from UDOT Pavement Management. This data was collected from 2010 to 2015. This data is RIDE data which is IRI data represented at 0-100 scale. Latest update to table is May 24, 2018.

High Volume System Condition

This data shows the historical and forecasted condition levels, calculated from collected 0.1 mile IRI data. It is sourced from the "Statewide High Volume Pavement Condition with Forecasted" table that displays the statewide high volume pavement condition data for the years 2011-2020. It is provided by Sarah Rigard from UDOT and latest update to table is May 23, 2018.

Low Volume System Condition

This data shows the historical and forecasted condition levels, calculated from collected 0.1 mile IRI data. It is sourced from the "Statewide Low Volume Pavement Condition with Forecasted" table that displays the pavement condition for low volume roads in Utah. This table has been formatted to display the forecasted years as separate from collected data. It is provided by Sarah Rigard from UDOT and latest update to table is May 24, 2018.

Sustainability Index

This data is developed to improve of the Surface Area measure, which is based on each surfacing project providing a benefit to the pavement life. It is sourced from the following table "Statewide System Sustainability Index Report" that displays the high and low volume sustainability index for a statewide and system-wide look at sustainability index. It is provided by Sarah Rigard from UDOT and latest update to table is April 26, 2018.

Surface Area

This performance measure was developed for the High Volume system to provide a perspective on how much surfacing work was being planned and constructed each year. It is sourced from the following table named "High Volume Surface Area 4 Year Average Goals", provided by Frank Pisani from UDOT Pavement Management and latest update to table is January 17, 2018.

Funding Allocations

Region allocations are updated annually and provided in the spring.  The 2017 condition data will be used for making 2020 recommendations.  For year to year consistency it was agreed to limit adjustments to less than 2 percent per year.  Separate allocations are provided for the High Volume system Federal funds, and the Low Volume system State funds.

Standards and Design

The Standards and Design Section manages several programs that are key to the delivery of quality projects in the Department. The Section's primary responsibility is to support the region offices, be available as a resource as needed for project support and provide tools that are requested by region teams. The Section is responsible to lead the Department's Model Based Design and Construction initiative, maintain UDOT Standard Specifications and Drawings, to evaluate design exceptions, waivers and deviations to the UDOT Standards, and is an integral resource to region design teams. The Section is responsible to oversee the development of programs such as Cost Based Estimating (CBE).
